'Rest and Digest' Organic Herbal Tea is especially helpful when dealing with stress and anxiety affecting the nervous system. Stress greatly impacts our health and since the fibre of our being is interconnected (mind, body, spirit), our emotional state affects our physical body in more ways than science and modern medicine acknowledges. For this reason, understanding, supporting, and at times, calming, the nervous system is a key element to self care and dis-ease prevention.

A lot of stress is felt in the gut and stomach areas of the body and perhaps not surprisingly, this herbal blend is also helpful if you suffer from digestive issues as many of the herbs act as both stress inhibitors and digestive aids.

Four sizes are available.

This beautiful dried herbal blend is made from organic herbs and botanicals and is hand blended in the Orara Valley, Australia.

The known medicinal benefits of the herbs used in this blend are as follows:

Astragalus root powder (Astragalus membranaceus): Possesses anti-stress properties that is helpful when taken over time to build stamina and bring your body back into balance so it is more resilient to the negative effects of stress. It is believed to support Chi, the life force that upholds life in the body and the first defence against disease.

Lemon Balm (Melissa officinalis): A herb of the mint family that has been used for over 2000 years as a sleep aid, digestive tonic and mood regulator. It has the ability to improve cognitive function and has proved effective in the treatment of anxiety. Administration of 300mg of lemon balm extract for 15 days showed improved symptoms of anxiety and insomnia in participants in a recent study. Studies have suggested that rosmarinic acid found in Lemon Balm increases the availability of neurotransmitters in the brain known as gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA). Low levels of GABA in the brain is believed to be associated with anxiety and other mood disorders.

German Chamomile (Matricaria recutita):Is commonly regarded as a mild tranquilliser and sleep inducer. Its calming effects may be attributed to an antioxidant called apigenin, which is found in abundance in Chamomile flowers. Apigenin binds to specific receptors in the brain that may decrease anxiety and initiate sleep.

Calendula (Calendula officinalis): Traditionally used in the treatment of anxiety and is used as a gentle demulcent (relieves inflammation and/or irritation) to moisten and soothe digestive tissue.

Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia): This common flower isn’t just a lovely scent, but also a treasure trove of essential oils that work to calm nerves and reduce anxiety. Evidence suggests that Lavender oil taken orally is an efficient mood stabiliser, may be helpful in treating neurological disorders and has anxiolytic and neuroprotective properties. The recommended dose is 100 mg containing at least 25% linalool, an active ingredient in Lavender.
